A study on the factors which affect the oral health behaviour of preschool children

The purpose of this study was to assess how mothers’ oral health behaviour, socio-demographic characteristics, and oral health beliefs influence on the oral health behaviour of their children. Data were collected self-administrated questionaire on their mothers. The 110 children and their mothers were selected for this study. The children were 5 or 6 years old in the 3 daycare centers in Ulsan, Korea. The data were analyzed by a descriptive analyses, ？？ ？？ -test, Pearson Correlation and logistic regressing analysis. Significant difference was detected for childrens’ toothbrushing frequency according to mothers’ toothbrushing frequency and monthly mean income. There was significant relationship between childrens’ toothbrushing frequency and mothers’ oral health beliefs(salience, barrier). The multiple logistic regressing analysis illustrated that income and toothbrushing frequency(3-5) was independently associated with the childrens’ toothbrushing frequency.
