The purpose of this study was to compare of the effectiveness by hydroxyapatite (HAp) and casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) containing paste on bleached enamel. Seventy-two bovine enamel blocks were prepared and randomly divided into two groups: distilled water (D․W), 30% hydrogen peroxide. And thirty-six bleached enamel block were divided into three groups: Bleached enamel after distilled water, Bleached enamel after hydroxy apatite paste , Bleached enamel after CPP-ACP paste. The samples were analyzed qualitatively by evaluating morphological changes in the SEM images, microhardness and quantitatively by using roughness parameters (Ra). The acquired data was analyzed by paired t-test and one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey s multiple test for variable at a 0.05 significant level. All the samples showed decrease in the microhardness after two cycles of bleaching, though immediately after bleaching the decrease in the microhardness was significant (p<0.05). Bleached enamel surface of two remineralizing paste groups showed any apparent morphology and roughness changes compared to the enamel which was stored in distilled water only. HAp and CPP-ACP containing paste used in the study causes an increase in the microhardness of bleached enamel by maintaining a high gradient of calcium and phosphate ions at the enamel surface. HAp and CPP-ACP containing paste has the potential to remineralize on bleached enamel.
