한국 창작동화의 죽음의식 고찰

A Study on consciousness of death in Korean children’s story *

This study is focused to reveal the consciousness of death in children’s story written between 1908 and 2010, through nine writers such as Bang Jungwhan’s, Ma Haesong’s, Kim Yoseph’s, Lee Wonsu’s, Kwon Jungsaeng’s, Kim Ogae’s, Whang Sunmi’s, Lyu Eunsil’s, Go Jungwook’s. Because of nation’s turbulent history, Korean fairy tale writers have been interested in death. Sometimes the cases of death in story were used to accuse the brutality of war and irrationality of ideology. Another cases were used to heal the wound of the heart by death. This study took three viewpoints such as aesthetic aspect of death, relative aspect of death, essentialism of death for literal analysis. As a result of this analysis, various cognition of death and psychological aspects relating death were revealed such as follows.1. Aesthetical intension to describe consciousness of death in Children’s story became positive as a response to the era of forgetting death. 2. The consciousness of death in Korean children’s story became diverse and rich. 3. The aesthetic aspects of children’s story such as ‘structure’, ‘metaphor’, ‘meaning’ were improved. Death expression using various metaphor in children’s story proved capability to produce abundance of semantic meaning. The good consciousness of death would come from religious and philosophical deliberation. This study found out that the consciousness of death in Korean children’s story based on the Eastern and Western saint’s consciousness of death such as Confucius, Buddha, Lao-tzu, Socrates, Jesus. The consciousness of death in literature would contribute encouraging people to take right way and increasing vitality of life. I hope this study would contribute for Korean fairy tale research and the children’s literature.
