춤의 기호적 사상에 관한 교육적 논의

Educational Discussion on Semiotic Thought of Dance

본 연구는 춤에서의 신체 이미지를 기호적 경험이라는 체험주의(experientialism) 관점에서 탐색해 보고 춤 기호가 융합 교육의 일환으로서 어떻게 구현될 수 있으며 어떻게 기호학의 출발점이 될 수 있는지에 대한 학문적 논증을 제시해 보는데 연구 목적을 두었다. 또한 무용기호에 관한 탐색은 Mark Johnson의 ‘은유적 사상’(metaphorical mapping)이라는 기호적 담론을 통해 고찰되었으며 이는 체험주의가 제시하는 ‘완화된 상대주의’(modified relativism)와 객관주의 관점에서 구체적 논의가 이루어졌다. 첫째, 교육적인 측면에 있어 무용 기호학은 추상적(정신적)경험과 신체적 경험간의 상호 연계성을 강조, ‘의미 찾기’가 아닌 ‘의미 만들기’에 초점을 두고 있다. 둘째, 춤에서의 은유적 사상(metaphorical mapping)은 ‘영역 간 사상’ (cross-domain map-ping)이라는 통합적 사고를 기제로 두고 있어 춤 기호가 창발적 사고를 지속해 준다는 사실에 논리적 힘을 실어 주고 있다.

This study aimed to explore physical images in dance from the perspective of experientialism of symbolic experience and to present an academic demonstration on how dance signs could be realized as part of convergence education and how it could become the starting point of semiotics. In addition, the exploration of dance signs was done through Mark Johnson’s symbolic discourse of ‘metaphorical mapping,’ and a concrete discussion was made from the perspectives of ‘modified relativism’ and objectivism presented by experientialism. First, dance semiotics in terms of education emphasizes the interconnection between abstract (mental) experience and physical experience and focuses on ‘making meanings,’ not ‘finding meanings.’ Second, the metaphorical mapping in dance takes integrated thought of ‘cross-domain mapping’ as a mechanism, so it gives a logical power to the fact that dance signs maintain emergent thought.
