A Certain Mind in the Uncertain World

Within a noted literature regarding Holism, Secretan (2006) mentioned that any single part of a whole cannot exist by itself independently. If you do not understand the whole, you cannot also realize the individual separately. In fact, the whole is more important than the summation of each of the separate part. This notion accurately describes what human beings truly need within the current 21 st century. Our century is an ever changing era, more important, we live in a time of great fear and stress. To better understand and cope with this situation, the current presentation shall introduce more on the manmade emergencies and crisis instead of natural disaster since there are a lot of information on the natural disasters publicized by the government. This presentation will cover four main points, including 1) we are living in a complex, diverse, and dramatic changing world, 2) the system of preventing and managing crises and emergency in Taiwan education, 3) noted examples on how crises were dealt with during unexpected fire at Formosa Fun Coast Water park; wherein many young friends suffered not only from skin burns but also loss of skin, and 2014 Taipei Metro attack will be addressed. Finally, recommendations shall be made in initialing programs such as life education, servant leadership, and Peace Study. In effect, educating more happy Servant-Leaders for the next generation becomes a reality.
