가정교과에 대한 고등학생의 인식 조사

A survey of high school students perception of Home Economics subject

본 연구는 중학교에서 가정과 수업을 이수한 고1 학생들의 가정교과에 대한 전반적인 인식을 파악하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 남녀 고등학생들의 가정교과 성격에 대한 인식, 가정교과에 대한 선호도, 가정과 교사의 수업 행동에 대한 인식, 가정과 수업의 유용성에 대한 인식을 묻는 설문지(총 45문항)를 개발하였다. 설문조사는 광역시 소재의 1개 고등학교와 지방 중소도시 소재 2개 고등학교에 재학 중인 1학년 학생 732명을 대상으로 2018년 3월 9일부터 3월 20일 사이에 실시하였다. 연구 결과 학생들은 가정교과의 성격 중 ‘전통적 여성 교육’에 대해 가장 낮게 인식하고 있었고, 70% 이상의 학생이 가정교과를 선호하고 있었다. 가정과 교사의 수업 행동에 대해서도 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었으며 전반적으로 가정과 수업이 자신에게 유용했다고 응답하였다. 교과에 대한 학습자의 인식은 학습 동기 및 학업 성취에 영향을 준다. 또한 교과에 대한 인식은 교육과정 결정자들의 의사결정에도 영향을 미친다. 따라서 앞으로 가정교과 및 가정과 수업에 대한 올바른 인식 확장을 위한 노력이 필요하다.

The purpose of this study is to understand the general perception of Home Economics subject for high school students who completed Home Economics curriculum in middle school. To address the goal, this author developed a questionnaire (45 questions) for high school students about the perception of the characteristics of Home Economics subject, Home Economics subject preference, the Home Economics teacher s teaching behavior, Home Economics subject usefulness. The survey was conducted between March 9th and 20th in 2018 on 732 first grade students attending one high school in metropolitan area and two high schools in local cities. As a result of this study, the students perceived ‘traditional women s education as the lowest level among the characteristics of Home Economics, and more than 70% of students preferred Home Economics subject. The students were also positive about the teaching behaviors of Home Economics teachers and answered that the Home Economics were overall useful to them. The leaner’s perception of the subject affects learning motivation and academic achievement. The perception of the subject also influences the decisions of curriculum decision makers. Therefore, it is necessary to make effort to expand the proper perception of Home Economics in the future.
