In a modern society of mass-consumption in which the consumer’s disadvantages and losses have become a general phenomenon, the problems of the consumers are social ones. For all its efforts to protect the consumers, Korea, like many other countries in the world, has achieved little. The main reason for the poor result is thought to be the insufficiency of the consumer education by means of regular curriculum. These are my suggestions : 1. The consumer education in the elementary school, where till now it is done seperately by various departments, should be performed systematically by the vocational department. 2. the present vocational education, mainly concerned with the training of skilled workers, should be transformed into the teaching of wise consumers. 3. for the reinforcement of vocational education, more hours should be assigned to it. 4. the elementary school teachers as well as the students of teacher’s colleges should be taught to be wise consumers. 5. teachers’s colleges should try to develop the aims, methods and materials for consumer education and the government also should support the teaching program in various ways.
