The score of nutrition knowledge of children of schools with the SLP we-re significantly higher than those of children of schools without the SLP. 2. The food preferences of children of schools with the SLP on new foods from the west and foods rarely eaten such as breads, noodles, hamburger, fruit juice, butter-margarine, mayonnaise, rice cake, oyster and burdock were significantly higher than those of children of schools without the SLP. And the food preferences of children of schools with the SLP on onion, liver, cheese and curry rice showed higher tendency than those of children of schools without the SLP: 3. The table manners, habits of hygiene and concerns of nutrition of children of schools with the SLP were significantly better than those of children of schools without the SLP. But meal practice was irregular. 4. The snack patterns of children of schools with the SLP were significantly more nutritious than those of children of schools without the SLP. The SLP had an effects on lunch and snack, while it did not have an effect on the quality of their breakfast and supper. The quality of their snack was affected mainly by school snack foods. The nutrition education in the SLP partially caused children to choose nutritious snack foods. 5. In view of the differences between schools with the SLP and schools without SLP, this study has demonstrated that SLP has affected nutrition education on knowledge and eating habits in addition to providing balanced diet. Nutrition education has affected nutrition knowledge more than food preferences or eating behavior among children of schools with the SLP. Recently the interest of nutrition for good health has improved, and it is high time that nutrition education of the SLP should be strengthened by these: 1) The SLP should be implemented nation-wide. 2) The nutrition education should be conducted with home-room teachers and dietitian participating. 3) The Subject of nutrition should be included in the curriculum of teachers colleges and in-service training.
