A Study on Bonding Methods of Structural Products for the Design of Wooden Furniture

In designing products, in consideration of their shapes and dimensions, functions, structure, and materials of products, harmony of shapes, procedures, and economy should be analyzed respectively. In addition, the results of the anylyses should be examined for their appropriateness. One method to increase the strength of part materials may be to make sectional areas larger. But this method will result in unproportional composition of structures as well as unnecessary consumption of materials. Alternative methods include studying on sectionals forms based on stress of part materials, replacing weak parts by different materials, or reconsidering the whole structure. In making box-type products for organization, conditions, places, and methods should be carefully examined in order to be convenient to use. Since some inconsistencies may occur among various aspects, those aspects need to be examined so as to minimize the inconsistencies among them. It is also important to change the designing perspective from product-oriented to human-oriented. This study examined various methods about the rigidity and sectional areas of products and the association of unit products to make useful and solid products.
