This is a study of the perception of teachers regarding of practical arts open curriculum in primary schools. The Purposes of this study is to obtain insight from the problems of open curriculum by analyzing opinions obtained from elementary school teachers, and to make inferences concerning practical directions to the future of practical arts open curriculum in primary schools. To achieve these purposes, relevant literature which considered the concepts of open curriculum, the needs for open curriculum, the legal grounds, and cases of open curriculum in other countries, was reviewed. A questionnaire was designed for measuring the teachers’ awareness of open curriculum, their perception of the support of administration for localization of curriculum, teachers’ experiences of developing materials of open curriculum, teachers’ experience of management, etc. Based upon these results, the following subjects should be consult to applicate straightly practical arts of the open curriculum. (1) Open curriculum should be preceded by teachers’ continuing research on the subject. And School administrators should beighten concern considerably in this matter. (2) Presently, the sixth practical arts open curriculum presents much flexibility to the schools in the management of open curriculum so that teachers need to analyze curriculum thoroughly and to reconstruct curriculum which is relevant for their students and the community. (3) By publicizing the importance of open curriculum through the media, students’ parents and others in the problems solution should involve in the students’ education more actively, providing home and community support in many ways.
