The objectives of the study were to investigate the importance degree and current self competence degree about invention education contents. In order to accomplish the objective, questionnaire survey method was used. The major findings were as follows; Firstly, teachers acknowledged the importance of having a good knowledge and competence of invention education as an invention guidance teacher. Secondly, teachers having a teaching career or trainee experience regarded invention professional competence as important than non-experience teachers did. Thirdly, competence degree which evaluated oneself was lower than importance degree, so it meant educational needs. Fourthly, educational needs which concept of creative thought, training method of developing left and right brain hemisphere, creation of creative idea, composition of whole brain project, planning and execution of problem, process of application for a patent, and understanding of sketch up software were very high. Finally, such items which educational needs were high should be reflected on selecting and organizing educational contents in the near future.
