New Paradigm of Teaching-Learning Method for Practical Arts Education

The purposes of this study were to analyze social changes and educational constituents’ needs about teaching-learning methods, to present a new paradigm of teaching-learning methods for elementary practical arts education. Teaching-learning methods in practical arts education have many problems such as instructions that don’t get methods and procedures, have a few problem solving chances, solve a problem with theory etc. For these problems, we should manage normally practical arts curriculum, apply various materials to teaching-learning procedures, understand and apply two approaches such as the hierarchal and the systematic approaches. The hierarchal approach of teaching-learning method should be closely connected with character, purpose, and content of practical arts education, present cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities harmoniously. The systematic approach should systematically consist the teaching-learning procedures. The introduction step should apply ‘survey’, ‘presentation’, ‘exhibition’ etc. And the development step should apply ‘experiment and practice’, the arrangement step should apply ‘group discussion’ etc, It should develop cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains harmoniously.
