This study is the fundamental discussion for the activization of education about the scope of ‘Understanding family and labor which will be dealt in Practical Arts according to the reform of the 7th Educational Curriculum. Especially, Educational necessity and content focused on family life section was investigated. More specifically. The basic conditions of educational necessity, meaning and development of family life scope was inspected. In the phase of content structure. I scrutinized the historical status of the scope, content scope and meaning, the relationship and differentiation with the other subjects, and relationship with the subjects of technology and home economics in the junior and senior high school. For the higher-level discussion on the subject, this paper suggested as a further study, the scrutinization about several theoretical concepts related to the educational method and family life.
