The purpose of this study is to investigate the body type and dietary habit, and the differences of dietary habit according to personal characteristics(sex, school location, BMI(Body Mass Index) group, existence of mother’s job) of elementary school students. A questionnaire was used to survey 540 elementary school students living in Kyoung-Nam. Major findings were as follows. First, there were the differences between body type by BMI group and body type perceived by students. About 60% of LW group and 42% of SLW group perceived themselves fatter than BMI body type. Second, existence of mother’s job and BMI group were significant variables related to the amount of meal, and existence of mother’s job and sex were significant variables related to the frequency of dinner. Third, there was a significant difference in the preferences on five basic food group according to personal characteristics: the preference on the first food group was differed by sex, second food group by sex and school location, fourth and fifth food groups by sex and BMI group. SHW group students moderately preferred the fourth food group, and LW group students moderately preferred the fifth food group. However, SHW group students didn’t prefer the fifth food group.
