The Development Strategies of Assessment Instruments for Information Science Area in Practical Arts Subjects at Elementary Level

The purpose of this study were to develop the assessment instruments, and discuss the new strategies for information science area in practical arts subjects at elementary level. Before developing the instruments, the researchers formulated a model for assessment in practical arts education based upon a review of extensive literatures, and set the performance standards for information science area, which they were divided into units standards and content standards. Through the contents analysis of elementary practical arts curriculum and textbooks of fifth, sixth grade respectively, teaching elements and achievement standards for each contents area were drawn. Based upon the Model a total of 29 assessment instruments were finally developed. Based on the analytic framework proposed, a model method and tools were developed by portfolio, experiment & practice, oral test, observation(checklist), description. A assessment instruments model for information science area in practical arts subjects were developed and the model consisted of five stage: the decision of evaluation contents stage, the selection of evaluation situation stage, developing stage, implementing stage, interpretation and application stage.
