The Directions for Developing Multimedia Materials of Practical Arts Subject

The purpose of this study was to investigate the directions for developing multimedia materials of practical arts subject. To perform this study, survey method was used and data were collected by e-mail. The survey instrument was composed of open-ended questions and 5-likert scales. Questionnaires were sent to 36 experts who were selected by purposive sampling method, and 27 questionnaires were collected and analyzed. The major findings of this study were as follows; 1) The order of multimedia material appropriate to practical arts subject was ‘Video-image-animation-module-graphic-sound’. 2) The fittest type of multimedia material to each unit of practical arts subject was identified, and according to this result, multimedia materials should be developed. 3) The characteristics of practical arts subject, such as ‘subject of practical life’, ‘subject of integrated knowledge’, and ‘subject of creative activity’ should be reflected to develop multimedia materials. 4) In this study, researcher suggested that ‘not to alternate hands on activity but to assist and facilitate’ as the essential direction for developing multimedia materials of practical arts subject. Based on this study, the effective strategies to apply multimedia materials for practical arts education should be investigated and verified the effect.
