This study was undertaken to develope play materials for the effective nutrition education in Practical Arts and investigate the effect of them on nutrition education. 11 play materials were develope, and applied to the nutrition education in Practical Arts. The 66 students in 5th grade were participated in this study and divided into two groups, experimental group and control group. Experimental group learned nutrition with play materials developed in this study, and control group did by general instruction. The results were as follows; 1. Playing activity was more effective in nutrition education than a general learning activity. 2. Children were very interested in the playing activity, satisfied it, and hope another play-oriented learning activity. Their dietary behaviors were changed positively by nutrition education with plays. In conclusion, Playing activity is very effective in nutrition education for children and the desirable change of their dietary behavior, and increase their interests and participation in learning. Therefore the various nutrition educational materials should be developed as well as playing materials, in consideration of children’s interest, and intellectual, physical and emotional development.
