The purpose of the study was to make an order of the scholastic structure and contents of the Practical Arts subject, to compare the characteristics and the role of the Practical Arts subject in the elementary school education, and finally to find the individuality of the Practical Arts subject based on the results of first two objectives. To compare the 10 required subjects for the elementary education, 23 educational domains were set based on the Mission statement for the education in Korea, the 5 well-educated person profiles, the objectives of elementary education, and the educational law. Among the 23 domains, the Practical Arts subject contains 17 domains while other subjects contains much less domains. That is, the elementary school students learn very important educational contents and get very important abilities from the Practical Arts subject. It also means that the Practical Arts subject covers most of every contents of elementary education and plays an important role as a major subject in elementary education.
