A Study on Stressor and Stress-Coping Pattern of Elementary School Students

This study was investigated to provide the basic data needed in the development of teacher reeducation program and elementary practical arts education contents by analyzing stress factors(personal, domestic and school stress factors) and stress coping pattems(active, passive and mysterious coping patterns) of elementary school students. The results of this study were as follows: First, the stress factor of elementary school students was high in the personal stress factor with the average of 1.82. The stress coping pattern was high in the mysterious coping pattern with the average of 2.01. Second, according to general characteristics there was no significant difference in the stress coping patterns and stress factors by gender. Birth order and school location were significant variables for active coping pattern. School achievement and domestic life standard perceived by students were significant variables for personal and school factors, and active coping pattern. Third, there were significantly positive correlations between stress factors(personal, domestic, school) and stress coping patterns(passive, mysterious).
