The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of using the computer animation program. For this purpose, two classes of the 6th graders in S elementary school which is located in Daegu Metropolitan City were selected for experiments. The experimental group was taught with the animation program of Flash, while the comparative group was taught with PPT program for 8 weeks-2 hours per week. The pre-test was taken for both groups with the Creativity and Thinking Faculty Test, which was made by Korea Creativity Research Institute. The result of the pre-test proved that the experimental group and the comparative group were identical in students’ creativity in both groups. The post-test was performed to identify if there was a difference in students’ creativity level between the experiment group and the comparative group. The result of this study were as follows: (1) the animation program, which was utilized for the experiment group, was effective to improve students’ creativity areas of the fluency, the flexibility, and the originality; (2) the POWERPOINT program, which was utilized for the comparative group, was effective to improve students’creativity areas of the fluency and the originality; and (3) the post-test showed that the experimental group gained higher score in the creativity areas of fluency, the flexibility, and the originality than the comparative group. In conclusion, it was proved that both computer animation program and POWERPOINT program were effective to improve children’s creativity. The animation program, however, was more effective than the POWERPOINT program to improve students’ creativity.
