한국과 미국의 생활문화 비교를 통한 인성교육 내용 탐색

Character Education through the Comparison of Living Culture between Korea and America

This study was on exploring the factors of character education by comparing the Korean living culture factors such as the 15th of the first month (lunar month), Labor Day, the Moon Festival and Day of Fire to American ones such as Halloween, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Week of Fire Prevention. Therefore, this study analyzed the data utilized in American elementary schools and related to life resources under Korean character education and practical arts education. The results of this study were as follows. 1) There were little data of Labor Day, Fire Fighting Day, the 15th Day of the First Month (Lunar Month) and the Moon Festival used in Korean elementary schools. But, America had a lot of materials related to these and they had been widely utilized in Korean education, social studies, technical education and mathematics education. 2) The research of this area must develop the materials to be utilized for teaching and learning in the side of understanding and developing our traditional living culture. In conclusion, the reality that living culture of American elementary school is utilized as learning factors gives a new possibility for the availability of Korean living culture factors in teaching and learning activities in elementary and secondary schools.
