초등학교 실과교과를 통한 안전교육의 방안

A Strategy for Safety Education through the Practical Arts Subject

The purposes of this study were to identify the actual condition and problem of safety education in the elementary schools, to analyze the contents of the practical arts subject, and to suggest strategies for developing contents related to the safety education through the practical arts subject. This study was carried out through literature review and content analysis. Results of the study were as follows; First, even though educational value about safety education at elementary school was identified as very high, safety education was not done very well. Second, more contents about safety education should be brought in practical arts subjects because safety education could be done more effectively through practical arts subjects. Third, safety education contents could be reflected on practical arts subject at the method of ‘permeation’ or ‘material’. Permeation means that safety education contents are permeated throughout all the unit, and material means that safety education contents are inserted in parts at the unit. Finally, theoretical basis for safety education should be made. Even though safety education is in everyone’s mouth, there is not many accumulated theories of safety education. This obstruct us from going ahead with safety education. So, a lot of research such as the concept, essence, method, and evaluation of the safety education should be made systematically later.
