Design and Implementation of a Web-based Instruction Program for Elementary Students Studying ‘The World of Work and Occupation’

The purpose of this study was to design and develop a Web-based instruction(WBI) program for the unit - ‘The World of Work and Occupation’ in practical arts subjects at the elementary school level. The study was conducted through the following steps : planning, design, implementation of WBI program, and application. During the planning stage, theme and related subject units were selected and productive environment, authoring tools, and developmental software were analyzed. During the design stage, the objectives of the unit were analyzed. A basic direction was established with a story board and flow chart. Developing this Web pages was conducted in the implementation stage. At the application stage, a reliability survey of WBI program used by teachers and students was conducted. The result of this study, the WBI program for the unit - ‘The World of Work and Occupation’ consists of 4 main parts and 2 supplemental parts. The main parts include work and occupation, the classification of occupation, career person’s character, and my future. There are deepening areas and data storage areas in the supplementary parts.
