The purpose of this study was to compare the perspectives about ‘work’ of John Dewey and Rudolf Steiner and to suggest the theoretical implications for Practical Arts Education. The research findings are as follows; 1. For human nature, Dewey and Steiner explain the human beings through naturalistic and psychological approach and have interest on integrated human development process. 2. For perspectives about concepts and necessities of education for ‘work’, they denied he body-mind Cartesian dualism and suggest the educational necessity of manual arts for holistic and balanced human development. 3. In educational method for ‘work’, ‘manual arts’ are conducted to develop he thinking ability and aesthetic sense. 4. The contents of ‘manual arts’ have showed significant simularity with Practical Arts Education in Korea but the purpose of the contents are to develop integrated human being-body and mind. The education for ‘work’ which consisted of manual arts were educational method for integration of human natures and curriculums, as well as educational contents for valuable human development.
