The purpose of this study was to promote a development of children’s body and mind by providing a fundamental resource of transforming decent nutrition behaviors, changing unbalanced diet into helping nutrition habits. This study developed a nutrition program to improve the consciousness of nutrition behaviors and knowledge of nutrition. and The subjects were 6th graders of 2 classes in S elementary school in Chongju, selected as a comparative group and an experimental group in 12 classes for 11 weeks. A. There was no statistically significance between two comparing groups on the consciousness of nutrition and knowledge of nutrition in pre-test. B. In the effects of nutrition education on the knowledge of nutrition, there was no significant change in comparative group. However, the mean of nutritive knowledge in the experimental group showed 25.15 in pre-test, but after taking the education, it increased up to 27.61(p<.001). C. In the consciousness of nutrition, it showed a meaningful difference in a post-test taken after experiment by showing 3.31 in comparative groups and 3.61 in experimental group(p<.001). D. As compared the knowledge of nutrition before and after education between two groups, the average score performed before education showed no significant difference, however, after education, experimental group scored 27.61, and comparative group achieved 24.79(p<.001). In conclusion, it could improve the knowledge of nutrition with an education of nutrition, based on short-term. However, it was unable to achieve a significant effect on the general consciousness of nutrition. Therefore, it is expected to provide a systematical, continuous nutrition education, long-term based using this program.
