The purpose of this study was to develop the Web-based dictionary for practical arts education in elementary school. The Web-based practical arts dictionary was composed of five menus ; practical arts photos, practical arts terms, introduction of textbooks, BBS and recommendatory sites. The important contents of the dictionary were ‘practical arts photos’ and ‘practical arts terms’. The ‘practical arts photos’ had Web pages that were made the newly taken photos in practical arts textbooks of the fifth and sixth grade in elementary school. And the ‘practical arts terms’ had explanations of all words that were related to practical arts textbooks. The Web pages were developed by using softwares of Namo Webeditor 5 and Photo Shop 6. The practical arts education is the subject which emphasizes experience; thus, the best method of teaching and learning is to learn through experience and doing. And the WBI in practical arts education is useful to overcome spatial, temporal and economical limitations, etc. This Web dictionary was developed not only as an instructional material for teachers, but also as a self directed learning program for students. If this Web-based practical arts dictionary can be used properly, it is expected to improve teachers’ teaching efficiency and students’ learning achievement.
