The purpose of this study was to develop a module for sewing with bamboo needle in consideration of student level and interest and to examine its effect on academic achievement and self-efficacy. The findings of this study were as follows: First, the module instruction for sewing with bamboo needle had a greater effect on affective, cognitive and functional achievement than the regular class did. Second, the module instruction for sewing with bamboo needle made no significant difference to self-efficacy. The module instruction for sewing with bamboo needle was effective for academic achievement, but gave no impact on self-efficacy. Therefore, it could be said that the module instruction had a good effect on enhancing academic achievement rather than self-efficacy. As the module instruction contributed to raising academic achievement, what kind of units call for module instruction should be examined, and sustained research efforts should be dedicated to developing modules in a way to suit child interest and level. To make it happen, it’s required to have a correct understanding of module instruction and prepare relevant materials.
