The Development of a CD-ROM Title Contents for “Growing Flowers and Vegetables” and “Design well-decorated environment” Unit as Horticultural Education of Elementary Practical Arts Subjects

The purpose of this study was to design and develop an efficient way to develop CD-ROM contents of “Growing flowers and vegetables” and “Design well-decorated environment” unit learning program of horticultural education of elementary practical arts subject. The main categories of this CD-ROM contents was composed of introduction of horticulture, outdoor gardening as horticulture, floriculture, pomology, and indoor gardening as green interior. Especially, this CD-ROM contents dealed the indoor gardening about green interior and foliage plants growing for future living of elementary school students. The CD-ROM contents were design to use slide shows, moving picture and animation with Front page and Premiere software to increase the interests and real experience of students. Horticultural education in practical arts education is the subject which especially emphasize the hands-on experiences and creative learning of elementary school students. Thus the efficient way for increasing teaching and learning of horticultural education is learn through experience and doing. The CD-ROM title aids the efficiency of understanding of students and efforts or economical limitations of teacher and also used for self directed learning for students. Thus the learning fulfillment of horticultural education of practical arts education will be able to increase more systematically.
