Recent changes in the Korean society and economy have greatly altered the dietary phases, food consumption structure and patterns of Koreans in the modem society. Along with that, diverse and new food risks have rapidly emerged and life surroundings quickly and extensively changed. Accordingly, attention is increasingly paid to food hygiene and safety, and it is required for the current system for managing the safety of processed foods to be improved. this study is aimed to investigate the current state of the use of domestic and imported livestock processed foods, the current state and suggestions of domestic and foreign systems for managing livestock processed foods, the nation’s awareness and reaction types for the safety management of livestock processed foods, and consumptions’ awareness of the government’s livestock products-related policies, as the consumption of livestock products and livestock processed foods has been increased and the dietary phases of Koreans changed. To do that, questionnaires were distributed to and collected from a total of 879 adults to know their responses, which were analyzed through the method of SPSS pc 11.5. The findings are listed in the following: First, respondents loved pork the most and did not have any special favor towards livestock processed foods. They enjoyed livestock processed foods the most when they did not have enough side dishes, and they mainly purchased livestock products from department store or large discount stores. They usually bought livestock products based on ‘their confidence and recognition of the selling agent,’ and most of them did not regard cooked livestock products as ‘special’. Second, it is shown that they had a low level of confidence in the government agency in charge of the safety management of livestock products and livestock processed foods. In contrast, they had a high level of demand that the government should implement intensified crackdown on such producers and distributors of livestock products and livestock processed foods as did not observe relevant laws to secure the safety of those products and foods. It considerably calls for the government to come up with adequate safety measures for livestock products and livestock processed foods.
