교실 원예 프로그램이 아동의 인성과 자아개념에 미치는 영향

Effect of the Classroom Horticultural Program on Elementary School Students’ Personality and Self-awareness

This study was practiced to investigate a positive influence on children’s personality and self-awareness of the horticultural program. The fourth grade elementary students were the subject of this study. The researcher selected the class under her charge as an experimental group among six classes, and selected another class as a controled group. The normal lecture was delivered to the controled group, and the horticultural program was delivered to the experimental group for one or two hours once a week. The results of this study were as follows. First, the normal lecture was not effective to foster elementary students’ personality and self-awareness because the mean score of the pre-test and the post-test did not increased significantly. Second, the horticultural program was effective to foster the experimental group students’ personality and self-awareness. As Korean society changes rapidly and various traditional values mix-up, the education to develop children’s personality and self-awareness is considered as an important part of an formal educational circles. To cope with wisely these changes and to build up positively children’s character the school lessons need to include the horticultural program.
