This study was to suggest the applicable methods of mind maps on practical arts education and investigate it’s learning effects on the unit of ‘Food and Nutrition’ of practical arts. The results were as followed. 1. There were mind maps in contents of practical arts textbooks of 5th and 6th grades. They were expressed by texts and images, and manufactured by teacher and students together. But they were not expressed variously. 2. In the area of ‘comprehension of family and jobs’ of practical arts, mind maps could help that learners systemize complex informations in the stage of learning and summarizing lesson. In the area of ‘skills in life’ they could help that learners comprehend procedural knowledges and promote their applicable abilities in the stage of learning and summarizing lesson. In the area of ‘life resources and management of environments’ they could help that learners systemize causes and results, and strengthen practical will in the stage of introducing, learning and summarizing lesson. 3. Mind maps improved learners’ academic achievements significantly in ‘food and nutrition’ unit. In conclusion, the application of mind maps have learning effects on practical arts education.
