This study wishes to offer basic data for improvement of home economics area in practical art education as the second major at 11 education universities. For this, ratio of practical art education as the second major, composition of practical art education as the second major, composition and education contents of home economics area in practical art education as the second major were analyzed. Results of study are as following: Credits of practical art education as the second major about graduation credits were shown a lot of difference from 12.24% to 20.68% and home economics area’s credits about credits of practical art education as the second major were shown a lot of difference from 23.8% to 52.3% between 11 education universities. Irrigation term began from 3 term to 5 term and finished in 8 term. 5 education universities composed practical art education as the second major to essential subject. It is thought in more efficient structure that compose practical art education as the second major to essential subject. Education target of home economics area fosters ability that reserve elementary school teachers can guide home economics area’ education contents efficiently at primary school. Teachingㆍlearning contents of clothing & textiles division were practice of sewing machine, needle work, bamboo needle, crochet lace, skill embroidery, quilt, nature dyeing and theory of clothing & textiles. Main teachingㆍlearning methods were lecture and practice and valuation methods were various in attendance, assignment, examination, practice process etc. Teachingㆍlearning contents of dietary life division were nutrition, food, cooking, table setting, food culture, table manner etc.. Main teaching learning methods were lecture and practice and valuation methods used mainly attendance, examination, assignment. Main teachingㆍlearning content of housing life area was housing. Main teachingㆍlearning methods were lecture, practice and evaluated by test, assignment, attendance. Main teachingㆍlearning content of household management division was family/household management. Main teachingㆍlearning methods were lecture, announcement, discussion and used various valuation methods such as attendance, test, assignment, announcement. In results of above, most home economics area’ education contents in practical art education as the second major were similar but desire that home economics area’ education contents are consisted more systematically.
