양육태도 및 가족 특성과 청소년의 삶 만족도

Parenting Behavior, Family Characteristics, and the Adolescent s Life Satisfaction:

양육태도 및 가족 특성과 청소년의 삶 만족도간 연관성에 있어서, 성별 및 발달단계 그리고 출생 코호트 간 유사성과 차이를 관찰하였다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원이 수집한 한국아동･청소년 패널의 3차와 4차 및 6차와 7차 자료를 활용하였다. 분석방법으로서 t-검정과 Chi-검정, 상관분석, 그리고 위계적 회귀분석을 활용하였다. 성별 및 발달단계별로 표본을 분리하여 동일한 회귀모형을 적용･분석하고, 그 결과들을 비교하였다. 본 연구에서 주목한 양육태도 중 ‘감독’은 남학생은 중학생 시기에 여학생은 고등학생 시기에 삶 만족도와 정적으로 연관되었다. ‘애정’은 여학생에게는 양 패널 모두에서 그리고 모든 단계에서 삶 만족도와 정적 연관성이 뚜렷한 반면, 남학생에게는 유의미한 연관성이 중1 시기에 국한되었다. 한편 ‘기대’는 중1 시기를 제외하면, 성별을 불문하고 청소년의 삶 만족도에 별 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 가장 특이한 관찰은 ‘간섭’과 남학생의 삶 만족도간 연관성에 관한 것으로서, 양 패널 모두 중･고등학교 단계에서 간섭과 삶 만족도 간 U자형 연관성을 보였고 대학교 초년생 시기에는 양의 선형관계를 보인다. 이는 선행연구 및 일반적 예측과 배치되는 것으로서 주목할 만하다. 본 연구결과, 양육태도는 청소년의 성별 및 발달단계별로 상이하게 조절되어야 하고 또한 청소년의 코호트별 특성에 따라 유연하게 변화해야 함을 확인하였다.

This study considers sex, development stage, and birth cohort in observing the effects of parenting behavior on the adolescent s life satisfaction. The analysed are the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey - wave 3, wave 4, wave 6, and wave 7, collected by the National Youth Policy Institute. The study utilizes t-test, chi-square test, correlation analysis, and the hierarchical regression analysis. The samples are split by sex and development stage when regression models are applied. Among the 4 parenting behaviors, monitoring is positively related with middle-school boys and highschool girls life satisfaction. Affectionate parenting consistently shows positive relationship with girls life satisfaction throughout the whole adolescent stages in both cohorts. For boys, however, affectionate parenting is related with the life satisfaction only in the middleschool stage. On the other hand, expectation is related with middleschool boys and girls life satisfaction but not with that of older ones. The most interesting observation is in the relationship between intrusiveness and the boys life satisfaction. Intrusiveness is curvilinearly related with middleschool and highschool boys life satisfaction by drawing U-curve. Further, it is positively related with the life satisfaction of the boys in college. This study suggests that parenting behavior is something to be flexibly adjusted up to the sex and the development stage of adolescents, and also up to the characteristics of each cohort.
