고등학생의 탐구기반 융복합 수학수업 경험 이해

Understanding High School Students Experience with inquiry-based Yungbokhap Mathematics Education: With a focus on the connectivity between desertification and the mathematics

본 연구는 학생들이 실세계에서 직면하는 문제를 해결하는 과정을 자율적으로 계획하고 탐구하며 실세계에 대한 이해와 성찰을 경험하는 수업 환경의 제공을 목표로 개발된 융복합 수학수업 맥락에서 고등학생들의 수학 학습 경험을 탐구하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 ‘사막화’를 주제로 2015년 7월에 16차시에 걸쳐 융복합 수학수업을 실행하고 수업에 참여한 고등학교 2학년 32명의 학생들이 수학 개념을 실세계 맥락과 통합하며 학습해가는 과정에서 작성한 수학 용어의 의미 설명, 변화율 마인드맵과 조별 소논문을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 학생들이 수업 후에 작성한 소논문에서는 사막화와 관련된 실세계 맥락이 다양하게 활용되었고 미분과 적분, 통계적 지식 및 환경, 경제와 관련된 구체적인 요소들 사이의 연결성이 나타났다. 그러나 학생들이 수학 개념과 실생활 맥락을 연결 짓는데 어려움을 느끼며 실제로 활용하는 맥락이 매 우 제한적인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석 결과는 학교수학이 수학 내적·외적 연결성을 경험할 수 있는 학습 기회를 체계적으로 제공하여 학생들의 융복합적 역량을 함양하는데 기여하기 위한 개선 방안의 탐색이 필요함을 시사한다.

The study explored high school students experience with mathematics class in the context of Yungbokhap mathematics class. The class model was developed to provide the environment in which the students could plan, understand, solve and reflect on problems they face in their daily lives. For this purpose, the study carried out 16 Yungbokhap mathematics classes with a theme of desertification in July 2015. And it analyzed 32 high school 2 nd-year students’ group thesis and mind-maps on the rate of change in which they learned how to integrate mathematics concepts with the real life context. According to the analysis, the students theses showed the diverse application of the real-life context related to the desertification and the connectivity among various concepts such as the Calculus, Statistics, environment and economy. However, the study also found out that the students had difficulty in connecting the mathematics concepts with the real-life context. This result presents that it is necessary to enhance students capability to understand the connection among mathematical concepts and to integrate their mathematical knowledge with the real-life.
