This study aimed at developing the protocol for the evaluation of functional communicative ability for adults with neurogenic language-speech disorders. For this purpose, the Communicative Effectiveness Index(CETI)(Lomas et al., 1989) was translated and modified by professional clinicians in communication disorders. The modified-CETI includes 16 items questioning for communicative ability with 5-point rating scale. 142 adults with normal communication ability and 20 aphasic people responded to those questions. The results show that total mean score of adults with normal communication ability was 58.8(SD=10.6)), and 39.2(SD=12.4) in the aphasic people. There was no significant differences between males and females within normal speakers. But three items of 16 questions showed a significant differences among three age groups(30, 50, and 70 years of age). The differences between the normal and aphasic groups were statistically large in four groups of normal speakers(30-40, 50, 60, and 70 years of age).
