Status of Speech Therapy in Developmental Rehabilitation Service

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate a agency to enforce the developmental rehabilitation services and to determine delivery changes of speech therapy services due to the voucher system. Methods: This study investigated the types and forms of developmental of rehabilitation services that provided the subjects in a private child and youth development centre. Survey period is recorded data from February in 2015 to October in 2016 and the total subjects were 100 people. Types of the developmental rehabilitation services supported by voucher system examined, were speech therapy, sensory integration, art therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and social skill training program. To analyze, Frequency analysis was conducted using the SPSS 18.0. Results: First, personnel served during 7-12 months was highest among treatment periods and speech therapy period was 3-6 months. Personnel provided only speech therapy was the highest in total service sessions. Second, the highest number of monthly sessions of speech therapy is 4.0 to 6.9 times. Conclusions: Intensity and dosage of any treatment program for disability type or level should be different but subjects were provided not enough to change their behavior because of fixed monthly support of the voucher system. Therefore we should consider effectiveness of voucher system.
