Purpose During CTA(Computed tomography Angio), the dosage of contrast media that is proportional to one’s height and weight is a standard procedure. This paper provides that heart rate(HR) is a very important factor without respect of the standard procedure. It is also to extend the diagnostic area with the arrival time of contrast media decreasing artifact in right atrium and right ventricle, obtaining images without wash out. Materials and Methods 1. 100 patients during July 2007 were selected to confirm the relation of bloodstream velocity by heart rate. The arrival time of contrast media to descending aorta was measured by Bolus tracking method. 2. 82 patients for cardiac CTA between Jan 2007 to Aug 2007 were divided to two groups(A,B). A group was fixed by 80cc contrast media and 40cc mixture(contrast media:normal saline=6:4) B group was applied the contrast media by the alteration of heart rate. CT No of 7 areas were analyzed in the quantitative way. 5 Grade Scoring System was used for the qualitative way. 3. Brilliance 64 CT(Philips Medical System), Stellant Injector(Medrad), Rapidia 2.8(Infinitt) and Iohexol 350mg I/ml were used. Results 1. The more Heart Rate increased, the more Scan Start Time decreased by the method of Tracker. 2. Both B group and A group had almost similar CT No. when B group compared to A group. 3. A group had a better quality image than B group in the qualitative way. Conclusion It is reported that Heart rate is a very important factor during Cardiac CTA through the results. Application of contrast media injection method will contribute to improve the quality of images and the diagnostic area extension of atrium and ventricle affected by artifact and wash out.
