Purpose We compared our study to evaluate an usefulness of a low dose CT virtual colonography. Materials and methods During February 2006, 20 patients with colon cancer were taken CT virtual colonography. A 16 MDCT (Somatom Sensation 16, Siemens, Germany) was used for this study. The variable mA according to the dose modulation program with care dose 4D was used in supine position, and the constant mA with lower dose than that was used in prone position. 5 experts including 1 radiologist, 2 radiological technologist charged in 3D processing, and 2 radiological technologist charged in CT evaluated the dose and images. Results The value of CTDIv in using care dose 4D was a mean 9.00mGy, and constant mA was a mean 3.90mGy. There was not different between the images including shape, definition, and flexibility of variable mA and constant mA (p< 0.05). Conlclusion Our data suggest that the low dose CT virtual colonography is useful in the aspect of dose and image.
