Method for Measuring Cohesion Using Cohesion Classification in the View of Class

Maintenance is an integral aspect of the software development process, where the associated user requirements can be complex and diverse. The object-oriented paradigm promotes reuse during software development and can thus simplify the specification of users’ needs and can facilitate maintenance. In this paper, we propose a method for objectively measuring the degree of cohesion among the criteria that are employed for evaluating software quality. The proposed method classify a class as a set of variables and operations and thereby measures the degree of cohesion as a reference between each component of the class. The proposed method was verified by comparing the obtained results with those of previous studies.
