Informations on the ability of cytochrome p450 on the detoxification mechanism have been provided in the basis of it’s location, determination, sepcificity and versatile roles. Cytochrome p450 are located in the endothelial reticulum of hepatic cell and can be quan-titated from microsomes separated by differential ultracentrifugation. And 4 kinds of cytoc hrome p450 fractionated by column chromatography show different protein patterns on polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and their special inductions by various inducers. Role of cytochrome p450 in the detoxification of organic compounds such as organic medicines, organic pesticides and other organic chemicals introduced in the body can be summarized as the ability to oxidize and convert them to the water soluble compounds for their elimination.
