The antimicrobial drug susceptibility of 116 salmonella cultures isolated from various animals has been investigated by the use of disk diffusion method. The percentages of strains resistant to ampicillin, cephalothin, chloramphenicol erythromycin, kanamycin, neomycin, penicillin, streptomycin, tetracycline, and sulfais odimimidin were 0.9%, 0.9%, 0.9%, 96.6%, 90.5%, 6.03%, 100%, 57.8%, 65.5%. and 1.7% respectively. However, none of samonella cultures of animal origin were resistant to carbenicillin, colistin, and gentamicin. The multiple drug resistance patterns of 116 strains salmonella against 10 drugs in general use such as ampicillin, cephalothin, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, kanamycin, neomycin, penicillin, streptomycin, tetracycline, and sulfaisodimidin were observed and the most common multiple resistance patterns were EM, KM, PC, TC, pattern (30.1%), EM, KM, PC, SM, TC, pattern and EM, KM, PC pattern (21.6%), and EM, KM, PC, SM pattern and EM, PC pattern (4.3%).
