A survey on the prevalence of bovine fascioliasis in Korean native cattle in Gyeongnam area by intradermal reaction-1973-1982

The prevalence of bovine fascioliasis was determined in Korean native cattle in Gyeongnam area by intradermal reaction. This survey was performed during-1973-1982. The results obtained are summarised as follows: 1. In the Korean native cattle, the prevalence rate of fascioliasis determined by intradermal reaction was about 30.0%. 2. The cattle reared in the island area had the highest prevalence rate (42.0%), followed by the cattle reared in mountainous area (29.3%) and in plain area (27.1%). 3. Regarding the age, the groups of 37-72 months had the highest prevalence rate (42.2%), followed by the groups of 13-36 months (25.4%) and the groups of 0-12 months (9.0%). The prevalence rates tended to increase with age. 4. The prevalence rates in the cow (32.9%) were higher ratio than in the bull (20.6%).
