A Study on the Fate of Plasma Cyanide in Rabbits and Rats with Experimental Administration of Potassium Cyanide

Cyanide and thiocyanate ions were determined in the plasma of normal rabbit and rat and in plasma from rabbits and rats with experimental administration of potassium cyanide. No cyanide ion could be detected in the plasma of both normal rabbits and rabbits with experimental administration of potassium cyanide, whereas plasma thiocyanate ion was increased from the normal concentration of 84.2±3.68μg/100ml to 131.2±22.6μg/100ml in experimental group. Plasma cyanide ion for white rats was the concentration of 13.4±9.8μg/100ml in normal and was increased slightly, to 33.9±10.1μg/100ml in experimental group, while thiocyanate ion for rabbits was increased machedly from 227.3±32.3μg/100ml in normal to 286.4±13.1μg/100ml in experimental group.
