This study investigated the factors affecting job satisfaction in kindergarten teachers and examined the relationship between their MBTI personality types and their levels of job satisfaction. In all, 100 teachers participated in this study. All participants completed an MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) questionnaire and a job-satisfaction survey. Several interesting results were determined. First, significant differences were found among the number of children in one’s own family relative to overall job satisfaction and among age groups relative to salary satisfaction. The overall job satisfaction of those teachers with children was significantly higher than that of teachers with no children. Further, salary satisfaction of teachers between 40 and 50 years old was significantly higher than it was for those between 20 and 30 years old. Second, working hours, salary level, number of external training opportunities, and types of kindergarten also had significant effects on the satisfaction of kindergarten teachers. Third, kindergarten differences were found among MBTI personality types. These types have the following four binary categories: extraversion –introversion (E/I), sensing–intuition (S/N), thinking–feeling (T/F), and judging– perceiving (J/P). The majority of the kindergarten teacher participants exhibited SJ. Further, half of participants exhibited ST. Generally, S-type teachers were more satisfied with their salaries than N-type teachers. The salary satisfaction of intuition-thinking type teachers was significantly lower than in other groups. This study can support improvements of the quality of childcare in kindergartens by examining the effects of demographic variables, working environment, and MBTI types among kindergarten teachers on job satisfaction.
