Effects of the Play Beliefs and Emotional Labor on Child Care Teachers Interactions with Infants

This study examined the relationships among the child care teachers play beliefs, emotional labor, and interaction with infants and explored the impact pathways for of child care teachers play belief on their interactions with infants through their emotional labor. In order for these purposes, 235 child care teachers working with infants in Chungbuk Province were selected as participants, and a self-reported survey was conducted. The data were analyzed by structural equation modeling, using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. It was found that the play beliefs of child care teachers had a partially positive effects on teacher–infant interactions, mediated by emotional labor. The results of this study imply that the play belief and emotional labor of teachers have a role in improving levels of interaction with infants, finally improving the quality of the child care.
