Social benefit-cost analysis of veterinary research

For the social benefit-cost analysis of veterinary research, the studies on live virus vaccine against tran smissible gastro-enteritis of pigs(TGE) and on incidence of infectious bursal disease(IBD) virus infection in breeder chickens and on biological characteristics of field isolates, were evaluated by linear programming method. The benufit cost(B/C) ratios were calculated 39 for the study of TGE vaccine and 305 for the study of IBD virus infection and biological characteristics of isolates, respectively. Li-near programming model was usable for ex-ante or ex-post evaluation of research and development projects in view of research management.
