A survey on infestation of internal prasites in bear

The authors made a survey on the species and distribution of internal parasites in bear. Total 88 head which collected from general breeding farm in Seoul City, Gyeonggi Province and Yong In Farmland, Seoul Grand Park were carried out for the actual condition of Parasitic infestation in bear. The results were summerized as follows: 1) Total rate of parasitic infestation was 39.8%. And the rates of single infestation were 36.4% and 3.4% of dual infestation. A Polar bear was the highest infestation of the internal parasites, Moon bear, Brown bear, Malayan bear in order. 2) The infestation rates of the parasites among the collected specimens were 63.2% of Ancylostoma spp, 36.8%of Ascaris sp. In Moon bear and Brown bear, Ancylostoma spp. were far higher and in Polar bear, Malayan bear had only Ascaris sp. 3) The infestation rates of bear in breeding farm were far higher than of bear in zoo - 60% to 22.5%. 4) The infestation rates of parasites species between zoo and breeding farm were almost the same.
