The serological group and antimicrobial drug sensitivity were studied for Salmomellae isolated from each 100 fecal samples of dog and cat in Jinju area. The isolated ratio of salmonellae from dog in each enrichment medium was observed in order of 13% in Rappaport medium, 10% in tetrathionate strontium chloride broth (TSCB), 9% in selenite broth and the mean was 10.7%. The isolated ratio of Salmonellae from cat in each enrichment medium were obserbed 8% in selenite broth, 7% in TSCB, 4% in Rappaport medium, respectively. The mean was 6.3%. Of 52 strains of Salmonellae isolated from dogs, 19 strains(36.5%) were isolated in Rapapport medium, 18 strains (34.6%) were isolated in TSCB and 15 strains(28.9%) were isolated in selenite broth, respectively. Of 26 strains of Salmonellae isolated from cats. 11 strains(42.3) were isolated in selenite broth, 8 strains(30.8%) were isolated in TSCB and 7 strains(27.9%) were isolated in Rappaport medium, respectively. Isolated ratio of Salmonellae in both selective media was observed of 56.4%(44/78) in MacConkey agar and 43.6%(34.78) in S.S. agar, respectively. The serogroups of 52 strains of Salmonellae isolated from dogs were in order of group D(38.5%), B(30.8%), C₂(21.1%), C₁(5.8%) A and E (1.9%). The sero groups of 26 strains of Salmonellae isolated from cats were in order of group D (57.7%), B(27%), C₁, C₂and E (3.8%). The 53 cultures of Salmonellae isolated from dogs were resistant in order of prevalence to erythromycin(100%), streptomycin(78.7%), penicillin (53.8%), ampicillin (51.9%) and chloramphenicol (51.9%), while the majority of them were sensitive to nalidixic acid (94.2%), neomycin (84.6%) and kanamycin (69.2%). The 26 cultures of Salmonellae isolated from cats were sensitive prevalence to nalidixic acid (96.4%), neomycin (92.8%), ampicillin (88.6%), kanamycin(82.1%), penicillin (82.1%), chloramphenicol (73.1%) and cephalothin (64.3%), respectively while the majority of them were resistance to erythromycin (100.0%), and streptomycin (67.9%).
