Studies on Parasitic Infections in Exotic Cattle 2. Incidence of Hypoderma bovis in Korean-home Kobra* Cattle

An epizootiological survey on the incidence of Hypoderma bovis maggots from March to May, 1985, in Korean-borne Kobra* cattle on Cheju Island in Korea was performed. The results obtained were summarized as follows : A total of 45 warble-fly maggots was collected from the Kobra cattle rearing in 6 farms on Cheju Island and the incidence rate was revealed as high as 13.2% in the cases. The maggots collected were identified on the basis of morphological characteristics as ox-warble H. bovis which was previously epidemic with high prevalence in the North American-borne (U.S.A. and Canada) exotic cattle in 1984 and differing from Oedemagena tarandi occurred in the exotic reindeer imported from Alaska in 1969.
