Thirty-five strains were isolated thermophilic Campylobacter spp. from 129 animal diarrheal feces. Thirty-three were tested for biochemical properties, distribution of biotype, serotype and susceptibility to 15 antimicrobial agents. All isolates showed typical characteristics of thermophilic Campylobacter spp. in biochemical test. In the biotyping of 20 strains of Campylobacter jejuni(C. jejuni) isolated 33.3% of the strains were grouped as biotype Ⅰ, 15.2% as biotype Ⅱ, 9.2% as biotype Ⅳ and 3.0% as biotype Ⅲ. In the case of 12 strains of Campylobacter coli(C. coli) isolated, 24.2% of isolates grouped as biotype Ⅰ, 12,1% as biotype Ⅱ. One strain of Campylobacter laridis(C. laridis) isolated was grouped as biotype Ⅱ. In the serotyping of 33 strains of thermophilic Campylobactes spp. 20 strains of C. jejuni grouped as 7 serogroups(4, 5, 6, 10, 17, 26 and 30) and serogroups 17(30%), 30(20%) and 6(15%) were encountered most frequently. In the case of 12 strains of C. coli grouped as 5 serogroups(8, 14, 20, 21 and 25) and serogroup 8(25%) and 21(25%) were encountered most frequently. The 33 cultures of thermophilic Campylobacter spp. isolated from diarrheal animal feces were resistant to streptomycin(54.5%), tetracycline(63.6%), novobiocin(78.8%) and penicillin(81.8%), but sensitive to nalidixic acid(97.0%), amikacin(87.8%), gentamycin(87,8%) and polymyxin B(81.8%).
